Every two years, children in years 5 and 6 are given the opportunity to come on a week-long residential trip to Charterhouse in Cheddar. This is a fantastic experience for all the children (and the lucky adults) and everyone always has a brilliant time.
What is Charterhouse?
Located 30 miles south of Bristol on the top of the Mendip Hills in one of Somerset’s Areas of Outstanding Natural Beauty (AONB) the Charterhouse outdoor centre has been providing school residentials since the 60’s! You’d be hard pressed to find someone who went to school in Somerset who doesn’t have extremely fond memories of their time here!
Superbly updated, it is within walking distance of the spectacular Cheddar Gorge which is named as the second greatest natural wonder in Britain!
Charterhouse offers the more usual exciting outdoor activities; however, it also offers the opportunity to get ‘up close and personal’ with the impressive local geology with our expert caving instructors. Caving at Charterhouse allows exploration of the Mendip cave system evoking feelings of a Tolkien-esq landscape where there is always the possibility of spotting a Hobbit or even Gollum!

Charterhouse 2023
Year 5 and 6 are going to be having their trip in November this year. They will be leaving on the Monday morning and returning on the Friday afternoon. Mrs Bell, Mrs Meyers and Miss Bell will be going with them. Mr Clark is hoping to join them for an activity or two as well.
Mrs Meyers held a meeting for parents before half term. For those of you that missed it, here is the presentation. If you have any questions, please get in touch with Miss Touchin or Mrs Meyers.
Unfortunately not the ones with chocolate chips.
