Westonzoyland Primary School ‘Achieving, Learning and Growing Together’

Tapestry Online Learning Journal

All children in the Foundation Unit have a personal Learning Journal which contains photos, observations and pictures your child has experienced during their time with us. As a unit, we use the online Tapestry Journal; a secure package enabling staff and parents to contribute to their child’s learning journals during their time with us.

We use this as an opportunity to upload learning across the week.

In addition to viewing our contributions, we encourage you to add to it by uploading photos and comments, or commenting on observations made by us. We love finding out about the activities your child really enjoyed and the learning they get up to at home.

E-safety is extremely important to us at Westonzoyland Primary School and Pre?school, therefore we ask you to complete the permission below to show that you understand and will agree with our guidelines specific to the use of Tapestry. We will then set up an account ready for you, and this will be confirmed via your stipulated e-mail.

If there is any other time when you would like to view your child’s learning please let us know and we can set it up ready for you at a convenient time. If you have any questions or queries about Tapestry please do not hesitate to ask. We are sure that you will enjoy this new way of viewing your child’s achievements as much as we do!

Some common questions concerning Tapestry:

What is Tapestry’s website address?

https://eylj.org/

How does the Tapestry system work?

Tapestry provides each child with their own learning journal held online. Parents and carers are given their log-in using their email and are guided to set up a secure password. All our Foundation Unit staff have secure pin log-in numbers as well as passwords. They can record and assess children linked to the EYFS curriculum using notes, photos or video media. An e-mail is then automatically generated to parents/carers set up to that child’s account and they are informed that an observation has been added so they can have a look and add any of their own comments to it.

Who can access Tapestry?

As parents/carers only you and the teaching staff can access Tapestry by using an email address and secure password that you wish to link with the system. If, as the child’s parents, you wish to each have a separate e-mail access to your child’s learning journey please write both e-mail addresses on the reply slip.

Where do I start?

Once you have signed and returned the reply page with an email address and consent, we will set up an account for you. Follow the link which will be sent to your e-mail.

If you have an iphone/ipad you can download the Tapestry app from the education section (search for Tapestry mobile).

If you have an Android/Tablet, search for Tapestry learning journal app.

What is the PIN setting up for?

When you access Tapestry through mobile phone or tablet, please set up a unique PIN when you log into it for the first time. This will be required whenever you return to the application or after the screen has locked.
