The Afterschool Club aims:
• to support working parents by providing a high quality service which meets the needs of both parents/carers and children
• to provide a reliable, safe, supportive and welcoming environment where children can play, have fun, relax and be with friends
• to support children with their homework
• to make sure the snacks we offer are healthy and maintain energy levels until children have their evening meals.
The Afterschool Club will provide:
• a healthy snack including foods such as toast, fruit, crackers, cheese – plus anything they might make in the club! There will also be a choice of fruit juice, milk or water
• activities such as drawing, board games, crafts, films, play or a quiet area where the children can work if they wish
• respect for any dietary, religious or medical requirements
• a high standard of care in a secure and supportive environment. We want children to feel relaxed and happy.
• opportunities to support learning (by helping with homework and reading)
Staffing: There are two Afterschool Club Assistants on duty each night, both are members of the school staff. There will always be at least one assistant who is first aid trained.
Routine: Children will be collected from their classrooms at the end of the school day. If the child has an ordinary school club, then please let us know and we will collect him/her from there.
There will be activities on offer and we will have a snack time between 4:00 and 4:30 (depending on if we have children joining us from other clubs).
Children are welcome to bring comfortable, sensible clothes to change into for Afterschool Club.
Afterschool Club finishes at 5:30. Please collect children from the School Office - we will bring the children up to meet you with all their belongings. If you wish to pick your child up at an earlier time, just let us know and we will make sure that they are ready when you come for them. We will not allow any child to walk home from Afterschool Club on their own.
Please note: we reserve the right to charge parents for late collections.
Payment details: Our Afterschool Club costs £7.00 per session to cover the costs. You may like to book on a weekly, monthly or half termly basis. Payment can be made by cash, cheque or via a Tax-Free Childcare Scheme. Please make cheques payable to Somerset Council.
Cancellation Policy: If you have booked a session and do not inform us by 12:30 pm on the day prior that your child is unable to attend, you will be charged the cost of that session. If you have booked for a full week then no refunds are given.
Please note payment for the Club must be paid in advance and not arrears. You can pay daily, weekly, monthly or half termly; failure to make a payment will result in your child being excluded from future sessions until payment is received. Please pay at our school office.
Numbers are limited to ensure a safe adult to child ratio, so please ensure that your child’s place is booked in advance, and by midday for on-the-day bookings.
You will also be required to complete a Registration Form and comply with the Club’s Terms & Conditions.
