Student Council Impact Autumn 24 / Spring 25

25/9/24

 

Action: We needed to decide which House Award last terms winners, Aylesbeare, should receive. 

Outcome: We decided to have a 'dress in your house colour day' that included a fun playtime at the park.

 

Action: We talked about the issue with computers not being put back on charge each day.

Outcome: All SC reps spoke to their classes and liaised with the computer monitors to ensure that this happened in the future.

 

Action: We discussed why we needed to make our packed lunches healthier.

Outcome: Some SC members made healthy food posters for the lunch hall and more discussions will take place in the next meeting. 

 

16/10/24

 

Action: We discussed what foods should go into our lunchboxes.

Outcome: We decided that we should have more healthy than unhealthy foods in our lunch box. We should have a maximum of 2-3 unhealthy foods. Later in the year we will share this with the school and introduce our new guidelines for packed lunches.

 

Action: Mrs Meyers joined us to ask the members for some ideas as to what focus our Spring Term enrichment day should have. 

Outcome: All SC reps came up with some great suggestions and it was decided to have an 'Around the World' themed day. Some of the specific ideas for the day were; arts and crafts based on a country (rue), decorating an area with the flags of different countries (Grace), making some food that is linked to country (Alfie).

Action: We have a brief 'ideas gathering' meeting. 

Outcome: We created an 'ideas board' that children can write on...this is positioned in the library on the SC board. Grace suggested that we have a school chess competition for house points. This will begin in the Spring Term. Ariya suggested that older children can listen to younger children read. Alfie suggested that we have a talent show for Comic Relief - we will be having a 'WZ's Got Talent' show on Comic Relief Day (21st March 2025)

Action: We discussed how to organise the school chess competition.

Outcome: Ella and Abigail to talk to Isaac and Charlie B (Y6) to begin to plan the competition.

 

Action: We discussed how to organise the  'WZ's Got Talent' show on Comic Relief Day (21st March 2025).

Outcome: Three guest judges (Miss Stockford - Aleysha Dickson, Mr Clark - Simon Cowell, Mrs Bridgeman - Amanda Holden. This will be the whole afternoon, we will need to gather entries in advance and make posters to advertise the event (all SC). Rue, Finley and Ariya will announce the event in assembly to the school. Talents could be singing, telling jokes, dancing, magic, gymnastics, circus skills, playing an instrument.

Action: We discussed how to organise the school chess competition.

Outcome: The competition starts this week. The draw has been made and pupils know who they are playing in Thursday's lunchtime chess club.

 

Action: We assigned roles and looked at the final details for organising the talent show. 

Outcome: 

Start time: 1.45pm. Ends 3pm.

Entry sheets have gone out. Ella to hand more out in assembly on Friday.

Closing date for entries is Friday 14th March (the week before)

Student council to complete list and running order by Weds 19th March and hand out to all performers.

 

Stage design: Table for the judges. Judges need to be dressed up. Microphones & speakers set up. Ella & Abigail to host. Buzzer? (Golden buzzers and ut uh buzzers). Top 3 prizes. Small prize for anyone entering. Guest enter from staff room door (by corridor). Cover corridor door with something sparkly. Member of staff in corridor to help get the performers ready and arriving on time. Performers to bring in clothing for their acts if they need it? Grace and Charlie (& Jack B) to help with the tech team.
