Westonzoyland Primary School ‘Embrace Opportunities, Choose Kindness, Value Everyone’

Autumn Term

Our Curriculum

English

In English this term, we are starting by writing a recount of our Summer Holidays. This is a great opportunity to show the skills that we have already learned and reinforces the writing process of planning, drafting, editing and publishing.

After that, we are looking at the book Wild Child, by Dara McAnulty and learning about information texts. We will look at structuring our own information texts and compose a variety of pieces of writing about nature.

Maths

We start the year, as we always do, with place value. We will be looking at three digit (for year 3) and four digit (for year 4) numbers- comparing them, ordering them and placing them on a numberline.

After this, we will be learning more formal methods of addition and subtraction of numbers up to four digits long.

Geography/ History

We start the Autumn term with Geography. Year 3 are learning about Volcanoes with Mrs Bridgeman and Year 4 are learning about Rainforests, in particular the Amazon Rainforest, with Mrs Meyers.

Year 4 loved watching a 360 video taken in the Amazon and asked me to pass this on so they could access it at home. Here is the link.
