INTERVENTION TEACHING ASSISTANT AND HLTA – 19 hours a week

12:30 – 4:30 Monday to Thursday, 12:30 – 3:30 on Friday

Term Time only until August 31st initially

Grade 12 Points 12-19 depending upon experience

We are seeking to appoint a motivated and inspiring HLTA to lead our education catch-up initiative.

Westonzoyland Primary School is a Community school set in the heart of the beautiful Somerset Levels and serving the historic village of Westonzoyland.  We are a small, friendly school with a family feel.  Our curriculum places a strong emphasis on wellbeing and outdoor education; taking advantage of our wonderful school grounds.

The post holder will work closely with class teachers and the SLT to identify children in need of focused, data-led interventions in order to help them to make accelerated progress.

The post holder will predominantly work with small groups of children across the primary age-range, for interventions both during school afternoons and after school.  In addition, they may provide class cover in order to allow the class teacher to provide additional support to groups of children.

The successful candidate must be confident with:

  • preparing lessons and courses for pupils based upon their needs;
  • delivering lessons to pupils.  This may include delivery via distance learning for computer aided techniques;
  • assessing the development, progress and attainment of pupils;
  • reporting on the development, progress and attainment of pupils;
  • Working within the policies and procedures of the school.

 

The successful candidate must have:

  • excellent communication skills;
  • an understanding of how children learn;
  • an ability to build positive relationships with children, staff and families;
  • good ICT skills;
  • minimum Grade C or 4 in Maths and English;
  • Higher Level Teaching Assistants' standards that are set at Level 4 of the National Qualifications; Framework or equivalent qualifications or experience;
  • training in relevant learning strategies or intervention packages (for example: ILI, Max’s Marvellous Maths, Breaking Barriers, RWI)

PRE-SCHOOL MANAGER – 32.5 HOURS PER WEEK

8:30 - 3:30 Monday to Friday with a half hour unpaid lunchbreak.

Permanent post.  Term-time only.

Grade 12 Points 12-19 depending upon experience

 

We are seeking to appoint an efficient, dedicated and innovative Pre-school manager.

Westonzoyland Primary School is a Community school set in the heart of the beautiful Somerset Levels and serving the historic village of Westonzoyland.  We are a small, friendly school with a family feel.  We have an on-site Pre-school with indoor and outdoor learning environments provides a rich early year’s education for children aged 2.5 – 5 years of age.

 

Duties will include:

  • Ensuring that the early years’ provision is of the highest quality
  • Day to day management of the Pre-School
  • Ensuring accurate record keeping and complying with reporting requirements
  • Responsibility for the financial sustainability of the Pre-school, with the support of a Finance Officer
  • Planning activities, arranging resources and staff rotas
  • Marketing services within the local community and meeting local needs
  • Staff management including inducting, supervising and appraising
  • Parent/carer liaison
  • Working in partnership with the SLT and School Governors to ensure high standards in all aspects of Pre-school provision and smooth transition into the school
  • Continuous monitoring of quality, standards, risk, safeguarding and inclusive practice in the setting

 

It is essential that you hold a full and relevant Level 3 qualification in Early Years and Childcare and have experience within an Early Years’ setting. Previous experience in management or leadership and a working knowledge of the Early Years Foundation Stage is also required. The post holder must have enthusiasm and a commitment to maintaining the highest standards in childcare, with effective communication and motivating skills and have a positive approach to teamwork.  The post-holder must also be willing to undergo any relevant safeguarding or first aid training in order to enable them to be effective in the role.
