In Year 1, children develop their curiosity about the world through a range of exciting scientific enquiries. They explore seasonal changes throughout the year, investigate the properties of everyday materials and learn about the human body and the senses. Children also compare different types of animals, discover how plants grow and identify their basic parts. Throughout the year, they are encouraged to ask questions, make observations, carry out simple investigations and use their findings to make connections and deepen their understanding of the world around them.
