History
In Year 1, children begin to develop an understanding of the past by exploring their own personal history and creating simple timelines of significant events in their lives. They investigate how toys have changed over time, comparing those from the past with the toys they enjoy today. Later in the year, children learn about famous explorers and their journeys, discovering how these individuals helped shape our understanding of the world. Throughout the year, children develop their chronological understanding, ask questions about the past and use a range of sources to find out about historical events and people.
