Hello and welcome to Autumn term in Kestrel class!
In English this half term, we will be using the book 'Billy and the Minpins' to develop our learning of simple sentences as well as compound sentences (Year 3 will be expanding their understanding of paragraphs and the use of adverbs within their writing as prepositions). Our focus is still on punctuating these correctly and using a range of conjunctions. We will also understand the four different jobs of a sentence to improve our writing.

As requested, please see below for a break down of our Year 2 phonics in order to support at home.
In Maths, we are beginning by working on our doubles and halves, extending our multiplication recall and expanding our knowledge of addition and subtraction.

Our P.E day this year is a Wednesday and our Outdoor Learning day is a Friday - please could children ensure they come in wearing their P.E kits on these days.
Reading diaries and Homework will be checked every Monday. Children are expected to read at least 5 times a week. If homework or reading is not completed, children will be expected to do this in their own time, where an adult in school can support them.
For those children reading 7 times at home, they will be given a reading raffle ticket.
