Spring 2
The children are all very excited and engaged with our new topic based on WWII. Our first lesson was such a success with some real expert knowledge in our class!
I am looking forward to seeing what they produce in this unit and the skills they are going to develop whilst thinking like a Historian.
Women in WWII
In this session the children explored how women's roles changes during WWII. They all researched a branch of the women's armed forces in order to understand the contribution of women during this time.
Everyone chose to present their findings in different ways.

Understanding the causes of WWII
The children all used different sources to create a shared timeline of all the events that happened in the lead up to WWII. They were so engaged in the research process and loved using the interactive timeline to find out more.
Autumn 2
The historical skills and knowledge year 6 developed over this unit was all put to use in our final lesson. The children came up with their own historical enquiry using extracts from the census (based on our location- Westonzoyland) and different sources. During this process they started to think about primary and secondary sources their benefits and limitations.
