Craig Barnett
Hi, my name is Craig Barnett and I am very proud to be your Parent and Family Support Advisor (PFSA). I have been fortunate enough to work within 14 local schools, offering music, computing, drama and production, yoga and wellbeing sessions as well as instrument tuition. I have attended Westonzoyland school as a specialist music teacher for over 16 years, and I love the welcoming and friendly environment as it’s always filled with enthusiasm and passion. I am a caring, compassionate individual who likes to work with communities to support and improve the lives of young people and their families within the school.
I am a parent of two wonderful children, aged 11 and 9 (and a very hairy golden retriever called Marley). Parenting is an absolute joy, as well as being the hardest job in the world! My son, who is autistic, has challenging sensory needs and I have experienced challenging everyday life, knowing how important it is for every family member to have a voice, be heard and most importantly get the right support.
Some of the services I can offer families as your PFSA are:
- A listening ear and acting as an advocate for parents, carers and young people.
- Support with routines, timetables, behaviour and communication.
- Increase school attendance.
- Promoting self-care skills.
- Attending meetings alongside parents in school or alongside other agencies.
- Assistance completing forms and applications.
- Encourage and support communication between home & school.
- Giving support and advice at times of crisis.
- To consider which outside agencies and professionals can support specific needs further.
- Support families through challenging times and offer help to get things back on track.
