Westonzoyland Primary School ‘Achieving, Learning and Growing Together’

Week beg. Monday 29th June

The warm weather last week led to lots of safe water play to help keep us all cool. We mixed in anti-bacterial soap to wash "dolls", create foam to hide sea creatures and to use with paint brushes for water painting. In keeping with the water theme, we will be extending our theme to Under the Sea.

On Merlins, Home Learning page, click on the red splodge and there is a sub-section called stories. There you will find lots of stories read by Miss Stockford, in particular The Snail and the Whale and also Tiddler.

In Pre-School, we will be looking at and reading about The Rainbow Fish. Please look on YouTube and listen to Ernest  Borgnine reading The Rainbow Fish. The Rainbow Fish is a story about a fish with shiny multi-coloured scales who discovers that sharing makes us feel happy.

Some Home Learning ideas and activities this week;

  • Can you make a Rainbow Fish using 1 or 2 old CD's Add a loop so you can hang your Rainbow Fish up to watch it shine and glimmer in the sunlight.
  • The Rainbow Fish learnt to be a good friend. Talk to an adult at home about the different ways to be a good friend
  • Teach your family the song 1, 2, 3, 4, 5 once I caught a fish alive.
  • Talk to an adult or look in a book or on the internet to find out about an animal that lives under the sea.
