Thank you for your lovely emails Oliver and Alfie who are currently in Merlin Class. We are looking forward to welcoming you into Buzzard Class in September! 🌈
Abigail had an amazing birthday. On Friday she had a very big surprise when Leia visited the house for a little party. They had a yummy Chinese take away for tea and all had great fun with a piñata and spent a long time on the trampoline. On her birthday she had lots of presents to open and went to Burnham on her new bike and went to the ice cream place. Then Abigail had her grandparents round!
Charlie has yet again been working extremely hard at home and has produced some fantastic work. He has also had the chance to get out and spend time in nature. Thank you so much for sharing the things that you found on your walk. The butterfly is beautiful! You look like you have had lots of fun finding different mini beasts. I love all your work on what makes a good friend, it highlights how much of a great friend you are 😊🌈.
After our zoom call on Friday where we read ‘The Dot’ Georgia did a fantastic job completing the art challenge I set them. She got inventive cutting carrots and dipping them in paint to print with them. This technique is very effective Georgia! I love the bright colours you used and the fact that you didn’t just use a paintbrush.
Wow Charlie Hale! We are super impressed with your home learning. You are working extremely hard and we are very proud of you. Your long ladder letters are beautiful and you have really focused on sounding out your words. I also loved to see what you would take to space. 🪐 It’s good to see your worry monster floating away! Well done you. ⭐️

Why use paper when we have a massive playground to practice our zigzag letters on?!
I loved our zoom call this morning and had lots of fun doing the activity set by Darcy in Kestrel Class. Well done to the parents who joined us and took on this challenge! We got a bit competitive trying to do as many claps as we could before catching the ball again. We improvised using toys and oranges because some of us didn't have a ball to hand. The most managed was 5 by Charlie H.
We are so impressed with Matthew this morning, he has used the magnetic letter and words on the fridge to sound out words and to construct different sentences. He found the words with his mum to make a sentence and then changed it into a question. I also love the lego house he made, he took his time to build this and put lots of thought into it .
What do you think of our new table decorations?! Our bases our snug enough to have a little nap in!

I love your description you have used to improve the sentences about Paddington! Remember your capital letters and full stops Oliver, can you spot your missing capital letter to start a sentence? Keep up the hard work, we are very proud of you.
Charlie is continuing to work very hard this week even when he has found things more difficult than usual. Sometimes we all have a day where we find something a bit tougher than usual, especially at this time. However, he has persevered and remained focused. This is so important, remember that sometimes we need to take a break and come back to our learning if we are a bit overwhelmed. We are very proud of you Charlie. I love your wellbeing journal, you continue to be a fantastic big brother! I am also pleased to hear that Charlie enjoyed learning about pointilism and having a go himself.
Archie decided to write a letter to his uncle Lala who he misses very much, I enjoyed reading this it was very thoughtful and kind. He is enjoying being in school for some of the week, he loved seeing Mrs Hall again and thinks Mrs Bell is an awesome teacher. These pictures brighten up our staying in touch page, I hope you all enjoy them!
Kasper enjoyed meeting you all on our zoom call on Friday! Thank you all for joining and doing our quiz all about different animals. We learnt that fat is stored in camels humps! It is a common misconception that water is stored here.
On Wednesday on our zoom call we made some origami rabbits and I set a challenge to create a jacket for Peter after he lost his in Mr McGregor’s garden. My rabbit has been enjoying life in his new home, he helped water my plant, had a nap with the dog and listened to some music on our record player. What had your rabbit been getting up to?

Charlie found today a bit harder to get motivated, but has managed to focus on some of our activities for the day and has done a great job labelling his plant and has done a great job on his Maths activity focusing on number bonds to 20! Sometimes we can have days where we are not feeling as enthusiastic as others, but it is important to have a go just like Charlie and to do your best. Please look after yourselves and pace yourselves, take breaks and come back to things when you are ready .

It was lovely to hear from Mrs Bell yesterday evening about our bubbles first day back at school. I am so pleased it went well and that the children enjoyed seeing each other again. Charlie's WANTED poster is being printed off at school and will be added to their display!
As some of you know, I have been working from home and I am continuing to do so at the moment. This is because myself, Mrs Garbett and Mrs Bell are making sure I am extra safe as I am a little bit more vulnerable than some people. Luckily, our lovely Mrs Hall and Mrs Bell are being my very own superheroes and looking after the children who have returned to school from Buzzard Class for me. They have named themselves the Rainbow Bubble Monkeys and have moved into a bigger class to make sure they can social distance whilst still having fun doing their learning. They are sending their love to everyone and have sent a beautiful picture for you all to see!
We had a lovely zoom call on our last day of half term! This week we celebrated our stars of the week, Summer and Leo, did a picture quiz and then read Peter Rabbit. For our final lesson on position and direction Georgia decided to create her treasure map for her gran! We will let you know how she gets on . Well done on completing this challenge and responding to Ella's too.
Ella would like to challenge someone to find her treasure. Who can take on this task?
I have found the first one (right two). Can you find the rest?

Thank you Georgia for sending me in the lion you created after our story session on Wednesday! I love the feathers you have used for the mane .
We had a lovely zoom call yesterday, we chatted, read stories and met each others toys! I set you a challenge after reading 'Charlie the Champ' to create your very own animal characters using different materials. Alternatively, you could draw the different parts of the face instead for example drawing half an orange for each monkey ear and using a pattern for the top of it's head and a button for her nose. I have added some pictures for inspiration. I am looking forward to seeing your lovely creations!
After receiving some lovely photos of your dogs, I also did the comprehension based on looking after your dog and could not resist putting some photos of my lovely dogs on our web page too!
Matthew has been enjoying the story this week and has been learning about giraffes. He also did the comprehension on dogs and has linked this to his dogs Ruby and Jorgi who are adorable! Matthew wanted to share how his vegetables are growing, they are looking great. He has planted carrots, tomatoes, pepper, and strawberries.
Charlie has completed some fantastic activities based around our story 'Giraffes Can't Dance' this week. My favourite alliteration phrases to describe different animals doing different things were 'Tigers doing tap dancing' and 'Crocodiles playing cricket'. 😂 I also loved your fact file all about giraffes and that you have used the terminology herbivore to describe what they eat- this is well remembered! Finally what a lovely picture, I hope this is going on your learning wall. 🙂
I have just had a lovely zoom call with Leia, who told me she had made butterfly cakes over the weekend. I also had a baking weekend and made some chocolate and coffee cupcakes! I have added some pictures of my first attempt at using a piping bag! I also got into the garden to plant some flowers and put up a bird box. Has anyone else been baking? What did you do over the weekend? Please send in your photos.
Leo found our story 'Giraffes Can't Dance' this week very funny and has been enjoying doing some activities based around this. It is clear you have been very busy with your phonics too. We are so proud of you and how you have coped so well with being in and out of school!
I was blown away with how hard Georgia has been working on her handwriting, I loved to read Georgia's new adventure for the rhino who went to the beach! I also loved your WANTED poster to help find the big, bad wolf. Georgia really enjoyed the Maths booklet based on Olympic games last week and even gave the characters in the book a yellow and black uniform to match her favourite football team, Watford. Georgia is continuing to do lots of different sports outside and is mastering a variety of skills based games such as basketball and keepie-uppie kick baskets. I thought your VE Day sounded lovely and how special that you get to talk to your Gran about this time in history who worked locally in the Land Army and who remembered VE Day listening to the radio and enjoying street parties on this day. Georgia would like to know how Oliver's foot is, I think that it is a bit better now! Thank you for your lovely pictures and email.
Head over to our Mini Meyers page to see some exciting news!! Congratulations we cannot wait to meet her she is absolutely gorgeous, we are sending lots of love to Mrs Meyers and her family.
We has great fun on Friday doing our zoom call! This week we did a scavenger hunt finding lots of different objects to help us build the tallest tower we could. I watched as the children and I balanced different objects, trialled different ways of building a tower and started to choose items carefully so that they would help support the tower. We also celebrated our stars of the week, Molly and Lily and had a lovely time catching up with each other.
Archie has been missing his friends Isaac, Charlie and Oliver a lot so he decided to make them into paper chains and put them on his bedroom window so he can see them everyday- what a lovely idea! He has worked really hard on his maths this week and has very keen to do this, I am so pleased to hear that he is enjoying this learning. Like others Archie has liked the three little pigs focus this week, he went on a walk to collect sticks and he then organised these into size groups. Afterwards he made his own house out of bricks and sticks and straw. Keep up this practical learning that I know you love to engage in at school too! I love your WANTED poster Archie, it is clear how hard you are working on your handwriting and making sure you leave finger spaces between your words. Thank you for also writing a new adventure for the rhino! I am pleased you enjoyed the online phonics sessions and took part with your sisters and your new homemade 'Fred' finger buddy. It is a joy to hear about all the lovely things you are doing. I am very proud of you and your attitude to learning.
Matthew had fun doing some role play based on the 'Three Little Pigs' this week. The house he created using a blanket and chairs represented the straw house, the one with toys and a blanket was made from sticks and the house made from the sofa cushions was the brick house. Matthew played the little pigs whilst his mum took on the role of the wolf. He has also been enjoying doing sign language again this week doing different numbers. Finally, he completed their Snail and the Whale art project which look fantastic! Keep up the reading Matthew, thank you for sending me a picture of your favourite bedtime read 'Ruby Flew Too'.
I am so pleased that Riley has had a super productive day today! We are very proud that you did this independently, it is lovely to hear how hard you worked on your own today! 🙂
Today Ella worked hard to finish her Olympic Maths Book and also created a WANTED poster for the wolf. I love the picture you drew to help find him and the fantastic detail you have included! She also worked alongside her brother to do an experiment all about dissolving and fireworks. After seeing Leo's collage Ella decided she also wanted to use natural resources to make her own. I think Leo will be very happy that he inspired you. What a beautiful collage! Keep up the good work and keep smiling 🙂.
I had a lovely afternoon zoom call with Buzzard class today, you all put a big smile on my face and it was fantastic to see so many of you again so thank you all! Today we read 'Rhinos Don't Eat Pancakes' which was great fun. Following the story the children all came up with adjectives to describe the rhino and drew their own versions of him. We thought about where the rhino might go on its next adventure coming up with some different places. This will help us in writing about a new adventure for the rhino. We modelled how we might start our story which I have added to the site. I think we created a rather fabulous sentence!
Thank you Charlie for sending in your story already- remember your capital letters to start a sentence and full stops to end a sentence. Can you spot your missing punctuation and capital letters Charlie? .
Oliver has been working hard on his maths this week and has also been doing arts and crafts creating some beautiful rainbows for his house. Oliver missed our zoom today because he had to visit a doctor after hurting his foot at the weekend, we are sending you lots of love Oliver and hope your foot gets better soon!
Leo has had a very productive morning doing lots of reading on Bug Club, doing his phonics, completing all of his maths and learning about penguins. Leo was so happy to see our comprehension today because penguins are one of his favourite animals. As you can see he has a penguin tablet holder who I have learnt is named Penny! 🐧

Charlie has been getting busy with topic work based around ‘The Three Little Pigs’. He enjoyed doing the Science experiment with straws, sticks and bricks to see which was the best material to make a house for the pigs. He then went on to build a mansion for all the pigs to live in together. I love the photos and your little toy pig Charlie!
Annabelle has been busy with her learning and has created some fantastic picture collages to show off her home learning. After Annabelle found an egg, she conducted research to find out what bird the egg belonged to. She then made a brilliant fact file about this bird (a wood pigeon)! Annabelle has also been keeping active on long bike rides and has been keeping in touch with her nana reading her books on zoom calls, we love your video! You have all brightened up my day with your lovely photos.
Charlie. H has been super busy this morning starting his English topic work. I love your WANTED poster, what an awesome drawing! We are proud of your attitude to learning and enjoy seeing your fantastic work.
It was lovely to hear about Leo's weekend today, I think his favourite part was when he went on a walk with his grandad who bought him an ice cream! Leo has been lucky enough to have such a fantastic nanny and grandad who do these special things with him . Today Leo has already read 2 books, and is enjoying our new story 'The Three Little Pigs'. He has also been doing his phonics focusing on the digraph 'ng'. What a successful Monday Leo!
Matthew really enjoyed 'The Snail and the Whale' topic last week and has done some lovely work based around this. He also did some more activities looking at the story 'The Rainbow Fish'. Matthew and his family have also been taking their time to complete mum, dad and me books which is a lovely idea! I am so pleased to hear that you are getting on well with signing and will often come into the room and sign what he has learnt to his parents. Matthew has been getting excited about his birthday this month so he has created a birthday chart to mark off each day that he gets closer to the big day! We are now 10 days away.
Mrs Hall would like to send you all a message to say she is thinking of you all and hopes that you are all okay. We hope you all have a well deserved break over Bank Holiday .
I have been inspired by all your baking this week so this evening I have made some gluten free cookies and Cornish pasties to enjoy on VE Day! Please enjoy your bank holiday weekend .
A big thank you to all of the children who joined our zoom session yesterday where we read the book Elmer. Here is a mind map that we came up with to describe Elmer. Most of the children rated the book highly. Join us next week for a different adventure!

Molly has been helping her mum in the kitchen making sausage rolls! They look delicious, I think I am also going to have to make some pastries too. She did some practical maths this morning using her toast to do fractions, finding a quarter and half of different quantities.
Archie has really enjoyed the Snail and the Whale theme this week which is lovely to hear. He has been working hard drawing, writing his own adventure and finding out facts about snails and whales. He used the tablet and his animal encyclopaedia to find out more information. I love the snail habitat made from playdough it looks fantastic Archie. Yet again you have had another fantastic week home learning, you have maintained focused and been extremely conscientious. Well done for completing Leo’s challenge to create a collage using natural resources with your sisters 😊.

Georgia found a nut that a squirrel had dug up in the garden which made her laugh and she shared this on our group zoom call. She has been busy doing lots of Phonics, Maths and English and has enjoyed the Snail and the Whale this week. Georgia is really looking forward to VE Day and has coloured in the Union Jack on our website and painted some paper ready to make bunting for the window. Georgia loved seeing her friends on our zoom call, I also loved to see you all!
I have already received an email this morning from Charlie. H showing how he has continued to learn about our English topic today. Charlie has created a seaside picture and under the sea pictures. He also looked at rhyming words in the story before coming up with a few of his own. This meant that Charlie had a secure understanding of rhyming words before he tackled this challenge. Awesome job Charlie!
Charlie has been working really hard on our English topic based around 'The Snail and the Whale' this week. He has used his knowledge of adjectives, knowing that they describe nouns to find the best ones in the story. Charlie then came up with his own to describe the main characters so well. Later he also created fact files for the sea snail and whale, I liked the section about what they eat! Keep up your amazing attitude to learning, you are managing to keep a really good routine that is supporting your home learning. We are very proud of you!
Ella has written a fantastic story using her favourite toys as inspiration. I loved hearing you read this to me and was impressed with your amazing imagination. You used brilliant adjectives so your writing was interesting and unique, I am so pleased that you thought about how to make your writing intriguing. I wonder if the children in Buzzard class could choose some of their favourite toys to create their very own story.
Lily has been working hard during home learning and has maintained fantastic focus on her work. Keep up that amazing work ethic Lily . As always we are very proud of you and what an independent learner you have become. We are looking forward to seeing you tomorrow for our story time!
After reading the 'Snail and the Whale' and thinking about the different characters in the story, Ella has started her English booklet. She then extended these activities by challenging herself to write character descriptions using full sentences. It would be interesting to see differing descriptions. Keep up the good work Ella! I am looking forward to seeing the alternative characters you come up with who go on an adventure together.
Jack. B has been busy learning through different activities. Jack has been engaging with home learning tasks and during this time he and his siblings are learning how to do things round the house, and are starting to cook and prepare more things. They have also been baking, growing vegetables and looking after them in the garden, seeing how they grow and what they need to survive. I think it is also great that Jack has learnt to play cricket over the last couple of weeks. Jack and his family are making the most of this situation to spend quality time together which we love to hear. It's lovely to see the things that all of our families are doing together at this time. You are learning important life lessons Jack, I know you won't forget these experiences in years to come!
I can see how hard Leo has been working to make sure that he is maintaining a good routine during his home learning. He has been very busy this morning already with his Phonics, reading and Maths and must be exhausted already! Leo watched the adaptation of the Snail and the Whale with his nanny on BBC whilst they had their lunch today. I am so pleased you are enjoying home learning and using the resources on the website as well as learning lots of new important skills.
Summer is managing her home learning experience really well having to adapt to being in and out of school each week. We are so pleased with how well she is managing these experiences. Summer has been busy doing her Time Capsule with her daddy and has also been making some bunting for VE Day. She is really looking forward to having a socially distanced afternoon tea outside the front of the house with her neighbours on Friday to celebrate this day. Summer is loving going out on a Thursday to clap for our NHS and keyworkers, this is lovely to hear Summer we are so lucky to have such fantastic key workers in our country. Oliver has been spending lots of time with his siblings getting outside and being active. This time is so important to spend with your family and to ride your bike and play games outside. He has also been using resources on the website to do his learning. Oliver weighed out the correct amount to help his mum make weighted blankets, that is very impressive and fantastic practical maths. I have seen how much Oliver is reading on Bug Club and doing his Maths on NumBots. Well done! Oliver wanted to keep the frog he found in the garden but after talking with mum he let him go to be with it's family in nature. Keep helping mum around the house we are proud of you as always!

Matthew was looking forward to getting back to learning after the weekend and got to work straight away with some topic work based on The Rainbow Fish. He explored this further by drawing sea turtles and their eggs, a family in a submarine, some marine iguanas, water monitor lizards and an octopus! Matthew has been keen to do his fractions work and has been learning about halves and quarters. I am pleased you are also taking part in Joe Wicks' workouts. Matthew has been watching a cartoon called Leo the Explorer about lots of different animals. When he finishes the episode he talks to his parents about all the facts he has learnt and then goes to find out more information about these animals. What awesome work and great attitude to learning Matthew! We are so proud of you.
Jack read the Jack and the Beanstalk with his little brother and sister which is lovely to hear. He then did some junk modelling and made a huge castle. You clearly put lots of time and effort into making this and it's so nice to hear that you let your sister help with painting it. He is also enjoying using NumBots and BugClub and the BBC Bitesize app to support his learning at home and to access different aspects of the curriculum. Thank you so much for staying in touch and letting me know what you are doing. I am so impressed not only with your hard work but also with how kind you are being to your siblings you are a great role model! 😊
Charlie has been busy with his topic work and has created a fantastic scene based on the land that time forgot. It looks awesome, I am sad that I am not teaching you this topic as I know how many of you would have loved exploring this together. Thanks for taking the time to send me in your pictures!
Charlie has sent in a picture of his masterpiece!!
