Westonzoyland Primary School ‘Achieving, Learning and Growing Together’

Friday 24th April

Friday 24th April

Good morning Kestrels! I can't believe it is Friday already, this week has flown past! Today, I have given you some vocabulary work for English and we are finishing our time unit today with some problem solving. There is also a clip for you to watch so you can become an illustrator! Don't forget to send me your Willy Wonka pics when you have finished it!

Don't forget to tune in today at 2pm for our scavenger hunt! This will be your next task for today. Don't worry if you can't make it, I will post the details on here once we have finished so you can still take part with your families. (I can't post it sooner, otherwise it will give away too many clues!)

Finally, usually on a Friday we have some 'learning together time'. This is where we play games together and learn lots of new skills. Today, your challenge is to play a game with someone in your family. This could be a board game like monopoly or scrabble, a card game like uno, or maybe a more active game like hide and seek. If you don't have a game maybe you could invent one-don't forget to make up some rules so everyone knows what to do. Most importantly though, just have lots of fun!!

Have a great day everyone and I hope to see lots of you this afternoon smiley

English: Vocabulary

I would like you to learn about some exciting new vocabulary. From now on, each week, you will be provided with three new words and your challenge is to:

1. Research the word and understand its meaning.

2. Use the word in a sentence. (See if you can use it when talking to someone in your household.)

3. Draw a picture to accompany the new word that has been learnt.

  Meaning Sentence Picture
Glimpse
Usual
Witness

Now you've learnt some new words, practice finding some words you already know! Try this game to see how many words you can make out of the letters on the screen. I found some 5 letters words when I tried, how about you?

Maths: Time, problem solving

Task One

Create your own timetable for today, or even start planning next week. Think about the time you are going to do each task and how long it will take you to do.

Task Two

Have a go at the questions below. Remember, when we are problem solving we need a lot of detail in our answer (maybe Mum or Dad can write some of your explanations down for you if they are really long!
