Interschool Athletics Competition @ Nether Stowey - July 2018
This annual event was well attended with nearly 40 children taking part in various races and representing the school. The day was held at Nether Stowey School and it was excellent to see so many children wearing the school colours with pride, some for the first time.
Events included hurdles, sprints, skipping, obstacle, relays, long distance as well as field events such as throwing, high, long and triple jump. We placed fourth out of four in the end but great effort and sportsmanship was shown throughout. Well done to all our competitors and the amazing support of parents.
Quadkids Athletics County Finals @ Millfield - July 2018
This was a really tough competition held at Millfield. Our 8 team members took part in the customary sprint, throw, standing long jump and distance run as well as a relay.
At the end of a gruelling day in soaring temperatures, the team placed 12th out of 16. In addition, Dylan scooped joint first place in the individual category making him the joint best athletics competitor in the county: an outstanding achievement.
Thanks to all the children for their great effort and attitude, but also to parents who gave such terrific support.
To promote a wide range of physical activities in healthy living week, we had a special guest in the shape of a Yoga instructor. Each class took part in a workshop, with KS1 classes telling a jungle story through the use of Yoga moves, with KS2 taking part in a more general Yoga class.
Inter-house Festival of Sport
As part of Healthy Living week, the KS2 children participated in an inter-house Festival of Sport, this fun afternoon featured a range of activities including: benchball, basketball, scatterball and target. It was enjoyed immensely by all and the afternoon was won by Ham Wall.
Sports Day and Fun-Carousel Afternoon
Our annual sports day was run with a slight change this year. The competitive races took place in the morning with the childrens' families attending, with a trophy presented to our winners. The fun-carousel took place after lunch, with all children involved, and again, the winners had a separate trophy awarded to them. An enthusiastic and fun day was had by all, children and adults alike.
