This Term's Learning Expedition

We are learning about Enchanted Avalon in our learning. See our curriculum map in the link below to find out how we will be involving all curriculum areas.

PE

Our PE day is currently Thursday. However please make sure your child has their P.E. kits in every day in case of timetable changes. Could all clothing be clearly named also to avoid anything getting lost.

Homework

Homework will be set weekly and children should spend about 30 minutes per evening on this. The work will generally be set on a Wednesday and should be handed in for marking the following Monday. The children have a homework dairy which they will need in school every day. The children will fill in any homework or reminders that they have. They will then take this home to share with parents. We are asking that parents sign at the end of each week and write any relevant comments in the box. Homework will mostly focus on our learning in English and Maths. Children should be reading at least 3 x per week for a sustained period of about 30 minutes each time and 4 times for a house point. They should mark the days that they read at home in their reading log and hand their reading log in on a Monday at the same time as their homework.

We celebrate and foster a love of reading in Hobby class and children can gain points in exchange for a mufti day. They will also be given regular spellings to learn at home and these will be tested in their spelling groups. Please support your child in learning their spellings – perhaps by giving them a mini-test to check their progress. Spellings will usually be linked to patterns and strategies that they are learning in their spelling groups.  We will continue to use the My Maths online homework tool weekly. Your child can log onto this website at any time to access relevant games and learning tools even if they don’t have homework set.
