Visit to Glastonbury
The children in Hobby class had a fabulous day in Glastonbury and the weather was glorious. First of all the children took part in some workshops at the Abbey. They learnt about pilgrim badges and designed their own. They also experienced life in an Abbot's kitchen and found out that there were some very strict rules. They then had a tour around the abbey and dressed up in monk's robes.
After a lunch on the lawn, we started our adventurous trek up through Glastonbury towards the Tor. Despite the distance and the steepness of the walk, the children did amazingly and all managed the climb.
Thursday 18th May
Today the year 6 children went to the garden area and found lots of living creatures including: newts, toads, beetles, snails, centipedes and many more. We then brought them back into the classroom to look at them closely with a magnifying glass. The children drew them and researched them using the iPads. This enabled the children to have a clearer understanding of classification.
Monday 8th May
The year 6 children started the day with a pre SATS breakfast and were relaxed and eager to get the reading test done. After the test, which the children felt went well, we all went back to the class. The children then did some 'grammar graffiti' to remind them of some of the key terminology in preparation for tomorrow's grammar test.
Tuesday 25th April
Today the children worked really hard in art on their artist impressions of Burrow Mump. We have created a super display of these in class and the children are very proud of their finished pieces.
